Understanding campaigns

What a campaign is in HubSlot, its fields, and how statuses work.

In HubSlot, a campaign is a time-bound marketing initiative with a name, a start and end date, and a set of touchpoints. Campaigns belong to one or more markets and are the primary way to organise, plan, and track your marketing activity.

Campaign fields

  • Name: identifies the campaign (required, e.g., "Summer Sale 2025").
  • Start and end dates: define the campaign period (required).
  • Color: visual identifier in the timeline and calendar views.
  • Promotion type: optional category (% Discount, Fixed Discount, Bundle, 3-for-2, Free Shipping, Flash Sale, BOGO, Other).
  • Budget: optional budget figure in your workspace currency.
  • Description: free-text notes, objectives, or useful links (optional).

Campaign status

  • Draft: manually set, not yet confirmed or shared.
  • Scheduled: start date is in the future (computed automatically from dates).
  • Active: today falls within the campaign period (computed automatically).
  • Completed: end date has passed (computed automatically).
  • Cancelled: manually cancelled, hidden from the default view.

Campaign limits

On the Starter plan, you can have up to 3 active campaigns at a time. Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans have no campaign limit.
