Shopify attribution

How HubSlot attributes Shopify orders and revenue to your campaigns using UTM parameters.

HubSlot attributes Shopify revenue to campaigns using UTM parameters. When a customer arrives on your Shopify store via a tracked link, Shopify records the UTM values. HubSlot reads those values from your Shopify orders and matches them to campaigns.

How attribution works

  • Each campaign touchpoint has auto-generated UTM links (built in step 4 of the campaign wizard).
  • The utm_campaign value is matched against your HubSlot campaign names (converted to lowercase slugs).
  • The utm_source value determines the source type (Internal, Owned, or Paid) for the source breakdown.
  • Matched orders are aggregated to show revenue, order count, and new-customer rate per campaign.

Get your UTM links

  • Create or edit a campaign and complete the wizard to step 4.
  • UTM links are generated per touchpoint and per market.
  • Copy individual parameters or the full URL and use them in your emails, ads, or social posts.

Limitations

  • Attribution requires the customer to have clicked a UTM-tagged link before purchasing. Direct visits are not attributed.
  • Orders captured before Shopify was connected to HubSlot will not appear in reporting.
  • If the same campaign name is used in multiple workspaces, orders will appear in both.
